What we collect

We collect your phone number to verify your account and send requested sign-in codes. Your profile may include your name, optional photo and bio, gender, city, neighborhood or ZIP code, and the interests you follow. We use coordinates associated with your home area to find nearby groups; we do not ask for continuous device location.

We keep groups and events you create or join, join requests and screening answers, posts and comments, RSVPs and attendance, and information submitted for micro-grants. To run the service, we also keep sign-in and session records, notification preferences, SMS consent and STOP/HELP/START records, delivery records, and web push subscriptions when enabled.

How we use it

We use this information to run accounts and local groups, show relevant groups and events, process join requests and grants, deliver notifications you choose, prevent abuse, and respond to support and privacy requests. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

Who sees what

Your phone number is not shown to neighbors. Your name, photo, bio, and area may appear where you participate. Group and event posts, RSVPs, and attendance can be seen by the people involved in those groups. Organizers can see join requests and the answers you send them. Group and event information may appear on public pages. Our staff can access records when needed to operate, support, or protect the service.

Texts

Sign-in codes are sent when requested. Group, event, and interest texts require a separate choice. You can change that choice in notification settings. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to block texts from our sender, including sign-in codes, or HELP for help. Reply START to allow texts from that sender again. START does not restore your choice to receive group updates. See the Terms and support information.

Service providers

Providers working on our behalf may process data needed for hosting, text and push delivery, address lookup, and help setting up groups. We share only what is needed for those services. We do not share mobile information, text opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

How long we keep it

Group posts, event RSVPs, and attendance can be useful to a group later, so we keep that history indefinitely. Account and operational records are kept while needed to run the service; some consent, opt-out, and delivery records may be kept after account deletion where needed to document messaging compliance or resolve a dispute.

Deleting your account

Email privacy@3block.org to request deletion. After we verify the request, we remove your contact details, profile, sessions, and push subscriptions, and replace your name on retained group history with “Former neighbor.” Your written posts remain, and their text may identify you even after your name is removed. You can ask us to remove a specific identifying post. Groups you started remain available to their members.
